Portland head Light Boxed Set of 6 — Lighthouse Coastal Watercolor Card

$19.00

Some places find you in childhood and never quite let go.

Melissa Hyatt has loved Maine since her family brought her there as a little girl — and Portland Head Light was always part of that magic. On a recent trip back, she stood among the keeper's buildings with her camera, looked up at the tower, and knew she had to paint it from exactly this angle.

The painting is alive with architectural detail and depth. The tall white lighthouse tower fills the composition, soaring into a bright blue sky streaked with clouds — the black lantern room and gallery railing crisp at the top. On either side, the classic white clapboard keeper's buildings and outbuildings crowd the frame, their bold red roofs and trim anchoring the scene in warm color. A small yellow door at the base of the tower, a wooden fence along the path, a glimpse of green grass at the lower right — everything painted with the kind of care and nostalgia that only comes from a place deeply loved.

Portland Head Light has stood at the entrance to Portland Harbor since 1791, commissioned by George Washington and one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States. It is also one of the most photographed — and after seeing this card, you'll understand why.
