Nubble Lighthouse Boxed Set of 6 — York Maine Watercolor Card

$19.00

Some lighthouses sit at the edge of the world. Nubble is one of them.

Melissa Hyatt painted Nubble Lighthouse from across the water, capturing the entire complex in one sweeping landscape. Warm golden boulders and rocky Maine shoreline fill the foreground, a strip of teal water running along the base. Above, vivid green grass tops the rocky point where the lighthouse complex perches: a large white Victorian keeper's house with a bold red roof and chimney anchors the center, a small red outbuilding tucked in front of it, a second white outbuilding with a matching red roof to the far left. The white cylindrical tower rises to the right, its black lantern room crisp against a soft grey-blue sky filled with loose, painterly clouds.

Nubble Light — officially Cape Neddick Light — has been keeping the Maine coast since 1879, sitting on a small rocky island just off the headland in York with no bridge to the mainland. That splendid isolation is exactly what makes it one of the most photographed lighthouses in New England. Melissa visited on a summer trip to Maine with her daughter, photographing it from shore — the same sweeping vantage point that inspired this painting.

A standout for any Maine coastal or York-area shop, and the perfect companion to the Cape Cod Lighthouse Map card.
