An Original Watercolor painted on Arches cold press paper. In the Summer I enjoy painting en Plein Aire, which is painting outdoors to capture the natural light. It provides additional challenges for a watercolor artist because of how fast the paint dries in the wind and the sun. I was invited to paint with friends on the bluffs overlooking Gardiner’s Bay in Greenport LI. Everywhere I turned there was a stunning view to capture.
Several pieces in this Collection were painted from this vantage point. See my piece “Waiting to Sail” . I wanted to paint the boats in the harbor and was intrigued by the small spots of color on a buoy or boat and enjoyed to capturing them. In the far distance is Orient Yacht Club. This bay is a popular place for sailing and boating on Long Island’s North Fork.
